Apple has reportedly fired an engineer after his daughter posted a video with the iPhone X before its official launch.

The YouTube video was shot on the Apple campus in September when the young women went to meet her father for lunch. The video was shared quite publicly before being picked up by news sites and tech blogs that watch Apple.  She said that her father was fired for breaking Apple’s policy of filming on campus.

Little did they know this little video would cost Mr Peterson his job.

The news of the firing came about when Brooke Peterson posted a follow-up video explaining why the original video wasn’t available.

Ms Peterson said Apple had asked for the ‘innocent’ video to be taken down, which led to her father being fired. Although she had taken the video down, the YouTube video had been copied numerous times online. The video shows Brooke trying out the new phone while eating lunch with her dad. The demo also inadvertently revealed some apple employee only QR codes and a text file of codenames for unreleased Apple products.

The iPhone X reveal was a few weeks ago and is going to cost a bomb.

“At the end of the day when you work for Apple, it doesn’t matter how good of a person you are, if you break a rule, they just have no tolerance,” said Ms Peterson, “Apple really did like my dad. And they let him go. Because he broke a rule. It was an innocent mistake, and he fully apologises.”

Ms Peterson added that the family had no grudge against the company and the father would be okay.

Mr Peterson is believed to have been in the employ of Apple for four years, working on iPhone’s radio frequency and wireless technologies.

I’m sure he’ll be fine.
