If you’re a regular commuter on trains, but you can never quite afford the astonishingly expensive seats in first class, you’ll be pleased to know that you could soon be enjoying the luxury for as little as £5 more.
All you have to do is book your train as usual, on Virgin East Coast services, download the Seatfrog app, then sit tight until two and a half hours before your train is due to depart. Then, you’ll have the opportunity to bid for an upgrade for a fraction of the usual fares.
Once the auction has opened, you’ll have about two hours to bid, with it closing again about half an hour before the train is due to depart, giving you plenty opportunity to bid.
With complimentary food and drink, free Wi-fi, reclining seats, and additional legroom, it’s definitely worth giving it a go, especially if you can get an upgrade at a fraction of the price!

Though, if you typically travel first class, or you want to ensure that you can get a seat, we would recommend booking beforehand, as auctions will not be held for all routes. So, we don’t want you missing out!
