Fatima Manji Bites Back

A column in The Sun yesterday gave way to a flurry of complaints, after Kelvin MacKenzie claimed it was “inappropriate” for Muslim journalist Fatima Manji to report on the attacks in Nice.
However, as the ultimate comeback, we have this:
It’s wonderful.
The award-winning journalist made a point of saying:
“Mr MacKenzie’s article was but one wild screed in a long-running and widespread campaign to intimidate Muslims out of public life.”
In case you didn’t know who MacKenzie was, he was the guy who commissioned this headline in The Sun back in 1989 after the Hillsborough Disaster:
It was only recently that the victims of that day have been recognised, after the actual truth came out. The police were actually to blame, after it came out that the deaths had been due to a number of police errors, and had directly influenced the danger of the situation.
The fact that The Sun has been boycotted in Liverpool for some time now really strips away Kelvin’s voice here. And rightly so, as Manji explains.
“THE TRUTH? I confess. I b**ped on Kelvin MacKenzie’s apparent ambitions to force anyone who looks a little different off our screens, and I’ll keep doing it.”
Cue the mic drop.
Thanks Obama.
