Newcastle United took on Premier League leaders Chelsea at home on Saturday. It seemed virtually impossible for Newcastle to come away with three points since Jose Mourinho’s side have been unbeaten in 23 games but that soon ended when they were defeated by the organised ‘Magpies.’
Pardew’s side took the lead when Cisse slotted home after Chelsea defender Gary Cahill missed Sammy Ameobi’s low cross. Cisee’s first strike ended a run of 498 minutes in all competitions since ‘the blues’ conceded a goal.
An Eden Hazard shot hit a Newcastle upright before Moussa Sissoko set up Cisse for another tap-in.
Despite Drogba pulling one back for Chelsea and ‘Toon’ man Steven Taylor receiving his second yellow card, centre back Fabio Coloccini stepped up to the mark to secure the black and whites victory.
The defeat also ends talk of the Stamford Bridge side repeating Arsenal’s run last season, with out losing a game throughout the season. This gives the London sides the chance to make up ground.
