Newcastle United took on Sam Allardyce’s side West Ham United on Saturday at Boleyn Ground. United may have had success for the past five consecutive games but soon changed when West Ham secured a 1-0 win.
The ‘magpies’ were guilty repeatedly losing possession and awful shooting. The Spanish under 21 striker Ayoz Perez looked most likely to put Newcastle in front but fired his shots a foot wide.
West Ham were relying on ex ‘toon’ man Andy Carroll to step up for their breakthrough but the goal unexpectedly came from their defender Cresswell in the 56th minute.
Despite going down to 10 men after United’s skipper Sissoko received two yellow cards in under a minute for a clumsy tackle on Andy Carroll and kicking the ball away, Newcastle pushed for an equaliser.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew made two changes and brought on Remy Cabella and Papiss Cisse to search for their equaliser but moments after making changes their attacking options were limited when their captain lost his cool.
With Allardyce’s side beating Newcastle 1-0 on the weekend, they move up to 5th place whilst Newcastle move down to 9th position in the table.
