David Tennant, who played the 10th Doctor Who back in 2006, is busy again. This time playing a barrister who goes by the name of Will in ‘The Escape Artist.’ The BBC drama has a similar theme to the previous ITV hit drama in which he starred, Broadchurch. Both dwell heavily on crime and engage the audience with the suspense oozing out of their storylines.
His role is tipped to be very significant in the programme and is, as per usual, played to complete perfection. ‘The Escape Artist’, written by the writer of Spooks, David Wolstencroft, projects an eerie, frightening feeling to viewers across the nation. Will and fellow barrister Maggie, played by Sophie Okonedo, have a fiery rivalry that will continue throughout the mini-series. Okonedo has previously starred in the popular Criminal Justice,  which aired on BBC 1, and also portrayed the role of Winnie Mandela in made for TV film hit, Mrs Mandela, a couple of years ago.

David Tennant is also appearing as Richard II in the RSC production in Stratford-upon-Avon until November 16th. He is also set to portray a character he ‘may have played before’ in the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special. Who could it be?

If you missed the first episode of ‘The Escape Artist’ on Tuesday, you can watch it again here, on BBC iPlayer:

The next episode is broadcasted at 9pm, BBC 1, Tuesday 7th November (tomorrow).
