New year, new you – right? That’s what most of us have been telling ourselves over the last week, anyway. Chances are, one of your New Year’s resolutions will be to get fit and healthy. So, if that’s the case, we’re here to give you a helping hand.

If you haven’t yet enrolled in a local gym, and you’re not sure where to start, don’t worry. Here’s a round-up of the best gyms in our local area.

Blaydon Leisure and Primary Care Centre – If you don’t mind working out in a busy gym, this one will be perfect. It’s a great price, and you don’t have to sign up to any contracts. By paying monthly, you can have unlimited access to the gym, swimming pool, and classes. Plus, they have a great range of equipment that fits everyone’s needs.

Inline Fitness Centre – If you know exactly what you want from a gym, it’s worth giving this a go. You can opt to have personal training sessions to keep you on track, or simply enjoy a much more relaxed environment than in most gyms. However, it’s a bit pricey.

Ladies Fitness Studio – Sometimes going to the gym can be a bit nerve-wracking, so you may prefer a female-only gym. Plus, if you’re a student, you could get up to 20% off. As well as this, there are many other benefits to this type of gym, including a nail salon! What more could you want?

PureGym – If you have a busy lifestyle, it can be difficult to fit in time to go to the gym, especially if it has rigid opening hours. So, PureGym is the perfect place to be, open 24/7. It’s really cheap too, from only £12.99 per month.

If you’re still unsure as to what would suit you best, it could be a good idea to take a look at PayAsUGym, where you can visit the gym for a few days and try it out, without having to sign up for anything.
