Telltale games return for another IP; this time it’s our favourite ex-cons, Guardians of the Galaxy. Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon are back for another adventure, whether it’s any good is up to you. Here’s what the biggest reviewers thought, whether it matters to you or not.

Gamespot – “Some more game-y elements can take you out of the experience a bit, but this is also a compelling introduction to the series that captures the unique charms of the Guardians – plus, there’s some kick-ass music.”

IGN – “I just hope that now the series has introduced itself, the series gives its environments and characters just a bit more time to breathe in between speeding the plot along.”

PC Gamer – “As it stands, Tangled Up in Blue is a meandering introduction to a cast I already know, leaning on a framework that doesn’t play to their strengths. In about an hour and a half, Guardians of the Galaxy tops out at ‘heh.'”

Destructoid – “…the narrative missteps in Tangled Up in Blue mean that players of the first episode won’t immediately fall in love with this motley crew of ne’er-do-wells. Anyone that’s already open to their cosmic antics will find a family that seems worth sticking with.”

It looks to be another ‘meh’ start from Telltale. Last year’s Batman: A Telltale Series started out rather strong, but many agreed it quickly fizzled out in terms of staying power and memorable moments. Maybe this will be the other way around?

We will see.

Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy is available on Steam, Xbox One and PS4.
