House of Cards kills Frank Underwood?

Following accusations of sexual assault against House of Cards lead actor Kevin Spacey, a teaser trailer for the show’s final season has revealed his character’s fate.

The trailer shows Claire Underwood, played by Robin Wright, standing at a gravestone with the epitaph reading: ‘Francis J Underwood, 46th President of the United States’.

Claire also recites the same words Frank Underwood purred at his father’s gravestone, where he is seemingly buried next to.

Although the executive decision to kill off Spacey’s character comes as no surprise, it does act as a final confirmation for fans of the Netflix original smash-hit political drama that there is no scope for Frank Underwood to be featured in the final series of the show.

It does, however, leave a lot of unanswered questions ahead of the streaming release date of House of Cards, which is 2nd November this year.

While it was confirmed Spacey was axed from the show almost immediately after his victims came forward, most notably actor Anthony Rapp, some have said the teaser trailer is a bid to keep the audience on their toes. Perhaps, then, Francis is not quite as dead as we think – even if the final nail is in Spacey’s coffin.
