If Men Had Periods

For women, it’s the biggest hindrance of the month. No joke. Different women experience their period in different ways, different flows and how long it lasts. However, there seems to be on unanimous opinion going around concerning what would happen if men had periods…
Feminist and political activist Gloria Steinem summed it up in her essay, dubbed: If Men Could Menstruate.
“Men would brag about how long and how much.
“Young boys would talk about it as the envied beginning of manhood. Gifts, religious ceremonies, family dinners, and stag parties would mark the day.
“Sanitary supplies would be federally funded and free.
“Statistical surveys would show that men did better in sports and won more Olympic medals during their periods.”
And that’s not even the half of it. Think about it. A number of things would change. And Twitter would be the site to tell us how (of course).
#IfMenHadPeriods Plan B would come in a 12 pack with two flavors, ranch or beer.

Many are actually calling the hashtag insensitive, as it only focuses on cis-males, and fails to include trans men. Who, y’know, would actually have periods too.
Many, however, have decided to use the tag to talk about gender equality.

And possibly the most poignant:
#IfMenHadPeriods The whole world would know how periods work.
