BBC’s iPlayer app won’t be supported from today, as Nintendo confirm in a blog post that this is the “end of a license agreement between the BBC and Nintendo.”

The app only worked in the UK due to the BBC’s licensing policies, and was actually removed from the Nintendo eShop back in August 2016. However, the app continued to work as normal, up until now, when it will no longer function. Nintendo did not comment on why the agreement has not been renewed, and similarly didn’t mention any potential replacement on its upcoming console, the Nintendo Switch.

The Wii U iPlayer app will join the bin of other abandoned apps, including Wii Street U, a Google Maps app, and TVii, which ceased in 2015. TVii was shut down in Europe before it even launched, so it’s unsurprising if you’ve never heard of it.

Apps on the Xbox One and PS4 will remain unchanged.

Because what else would you be using a console for.
