While there may be a Justice League Dark animated movie already, with a live action one on the way, there was initially supposed to be one sooner.

Director Joseph Kahn has released a bunch of unused assets, including animations and costume tests, with some familiar actors filling the roles. Kahn tweeted the images just after being posted by Justin Fields online, whose company Ironklad Studios came up in the artwork. Justice League Dark is based on the comic of the same name, which features a more supernatural look at the DC universe.

The cartoon focused on Batman recruiting other heroes whose powers lie within the realms of magic. But we all know Bats doesn’t believe in that nonsense.

The artwork is rather impressive, as you can see sprinkled throughout the article. We see heroes like Constantine, Swamp Thing and Zatanna. The actors featured would have been Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones) for Zatanna, Dan Stevens (beauty and the Beast) for Constantine and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange).

It’s important to note that Kahn’s involvement and that these designs don’t overlap with Guillermo del Toro’s take on the project. The director went to Twitter to confirm that he helped with the script, but was in no way involved in the designs.

A Dark film could very well make it to the big screen one day. Comic-Con Brazil goers would have noticed the title card alongside Aquaman and Wonder Woman 2. So a film could definitely be in the works right now. It might be a way to push some lesser known heroes into the mainstream too. Because if Injustice 2 is anything to go by, Swamp Thing is a beast.
