Kate Moss Brings Back Adidas Gazelles

In their newest attempt to bring back an old classic style, Adidas have teamed up with everyone’s favourite British supermodel, Kate Moss. The popular athletic wear brand plan on rebooting their classical and simple ‘Gazelle’ shoe with the help of Kate Moss – the same way that Celine designer Phoebe Philo helped create a cult-like status for the Adidas Stan Smith five years ago.

In an attempt to recreate Phoebe Philo’s success with the Stan Smiths, Adidas are remixing an old photograph of Kate Moss, one of Britain’s most famous models, wearing a red pair of Adidas Gazelles. The photo, which was taken in 1993, is set to front the campaign. Adidas are hoping that Moss will help spark a new footwear trend for the Gazelles, an old style which has recently been re-issued.

The relaunch of the Gazelles, however, has also led to a remix of the original iconic photograph of the supermodel – as you can see it’s certainly not how you may remember it! For the launch of the new shoe, Adidas enlisted the help of artist Doug Abraham to create the new central image of the campaign. The remixed photograph shows the original image of Moss mixed together with a number of other shots of the model throughout her career in the style of a collage. Adidas hopes that the campaign, titled “Remember the Future” which aims to encourage artists to steal from history to create new work, will help to create yet another ‘Philo effect’ and boost sales for the re-issued classic Gazelle.gaz1
