2018’s attempt at a video-game movie is incoming, with Tomb Raider getting a new trailer, showing Lara Croft digging up the past.

Releasing in March, Alicia Vikander will star as the iconic character, as she explores tombs (duh), fights bad guys and falls over a lot. The first trailer was released in September, which took quite a bit of inspiration from the 2013 reboot and its sequel in 2016. Even judging by the logo designs, combined with the gritty visuals, it mirrors the game perfectly. However, could this be the video-game adaption to break the mould of bad adaptions?

When they said it’d be a 60/40 split between the present and past I gave them the benefit of the doubt. However, I would have much prefered more past.

2016’s Assassin’s Creed failed to live up to the hype it had left in its wake. IT was stale, bland, and a little confusing at times. Not to mention a heap of plot holes. Check out our review if you really care that much. We certainly didn’t.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, she talked about how her role would differ from what we’ve seen before in the games and the Angelina Jolie movies.

These movies were so…so bad. But so so good.

‘She has all the fierce, tough, curious, intelligent traits. But we’ve stripped away all of her experience. She hasn’t gone on an adventure just yet. She thought she was a stuck-up businessperson living in the modern youth culture of suburban London, but then this whole box of information. This is the beginning.

Honestly?

I’m down with this. The newest iteration of Lara, the gritty survivalist, was loved by thousands of fans. The game was fun too. When you aren’t sliding down a hill or being eaten by wolves.

In terms of any other games in the franchise, a new Tomb Raider game was announced in December. Square Enix, the developers made a brief statement, however, everything else is unknown.

Check out the trailer.
