From being stranded on Mars, to being stranded on a world that was dimensions away in Interstellar, or being hunted by assassins for 10+ years in the Bourne films, he might be getting on but he certainly isn’t slowing down.

While it may have been almost a decade, Matt Damon is putting his stern face on for Jason Bourne. After abandoning espionage, he’s on the run once again from hitmen and agencies galore. And probably not for the last time, according to the Universal boss Donna Langley.

In an interview with the New York Times, Langley said “Even though Matt and Paul had been very definitive about not wanting to come back, we weren’t really willing to submit to that. Look, here’s what I think the goal is: to keep Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass doing Bourne movies till they can’t do them anymore.”

The actor and director worked on the second and third films – The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007). A reboot was attempted in 2012 with Jeremy Renner as the lead role, but The Bourne Legacy was met with disappointment, both critically and at the box office.

Damon, in the feature, talked about being persuaded to return to the franchise, by saying, “At a certain point, I said to Paul, ‘People really want to see this movie, and that’s not something to turn our noses up at.’”

So, be on the look-out for a grizzled Bourne in the next few years.

I already have a title.

The Bourne Hip Replacement.
