We’ve always wondered where sportsmen’s and sportswomen’s money goes. Here at b**p we have been looking into who the most charitable sportspeople in the world are.

The first person on the list may come as a surprise: the Real Madrid and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo has raised money for various charities. Not only has he donated an astonishing $83,000+ to a 10-year old fan in need of brain surgery, but he has donated more than $165,000 to fund a cancer centre in Portugal which treated his mother.

Tennis player Serena Williams entered the list in third spot. In addition to her work with the Serena Williams Foundation and as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, she has launched the 1-11 campaign to extend educational opportunities to marginalized children in Bangladesh, Indonesia and Nepal. She also has plans to expand this to more countries in the future.

Rounding off the top five charitable sports personalities is Barcelona and Brazil’s forward Neymar, chosen for his participation in FIFA’s 11 Against Ebola campaign, for partnering with Paypal to bring clean water to Brazil with Waves for Water, and for founding the Neymar Jr. Institute Project, which is an educational and sports complex in Praia Grande.

Here’s a list of the top five most charitable sports people:

1. Cristiano Ronaldo, Football.

2. John Cena, Wrestling.

3. Serena Williams, Tennis.

4. Yuna Kim, Figure Skating.

5. Neymar, Football.
