Naomi Vs Vogue

Diversity is an odd issue everywhere. From comics to films, now even Vogue is being called out for the 50 shades of white they for their models. Naomi Campbell criticised the lack of diversity under the previous editor for British Vogue, Alexandra Schulman.

She did so on Instagram, showing a photo of the editors for Vogue 2017, which was literally all white people.

Seriously:

Yikes.

But all in not lost, the new editor Edward Enninful has been hired as the new editor-in-chief, which, according to the broadcaster and commentator Edward Adoo is a ‘step in the right direction’. Given the fact that he’s black and gay, I think that’s about as diverse you can get, which is pretty neat.

One of the first things Enninful did when he was first taken on employ Campbell, Kate Moss and even film director Steve McQueen. Enninful said to Time last year that there needed to be massive changes to make the industry more diverse.

‘If you put one model in a show or in an ad campaign, that doesn’t solve the problem,’

Indeed, a good step in the right direction for the magazine. Enninful is the first male editor-in-chief of Vogue, and we hope to see him run his course as long as Alexandra, who was made editor in 1992.

Hopefully, Vogue will see the perks of having a more diverse model roster.
