New drinking laws in Magaluf take effect

New drinking legislation, banning clubbers from taking their drinks with them when they leave bars, took effect this Tuesday, 9th June.

The measures were put in place to try and clamp down on violence in the streets and other behaviour typically associated with binge drinking.

Magaluf, a resort on the island of Majorca, has obtained a difficult reputation over the years as a holiday destination for young Brits, particularly those on ‘stag’ or ‘hen’ parties, where hard drinking is the expectation. However, a significant police presence stops too many situations from arising.

Vicky Pattison, of Geordie Shore fame, used to work on the island. When asked about her recent trip to the island, she stated that she had had a pleasant time, but that we would have to wait until the weekend to see what impact the new drinking restrictions would have.
