This morning, tickets went on sale for Peter Kay’s first tour in 8 years, and most shows sold out very quickly.

Though a lot of fans will be disappointed about not getting tickets, we do have some good news for you. If you loved Kay’s Car Share, you’ll be pleased to know that he’ll be back with a new series very soon.

The second series ended in May with Kayleigh declaring her love for John but lacked the romantic finish that many fans had hoped for.

Announcing the additional series on Children in Need on Friday night, Kay said:

People have been very angry that the series ended in that way.

But [now] there is a series finale explaining what happened the next day, after the big argument.

We’ve also done another episode called Car Share Unscripted, which is half an hour of us basically making the script up and improvising. It’s nothing to do with the story – just us having a laugh.

This will come as a surprise to a lot of fans, after Kay claimed there would be no third series or Christmas specials because he was worried about running out of ideas, saying:

There’s only so much you can do in a car and the last thing you want to do is ruin it, because I think it’s a lovely thing.

Pretty exciting, right? Though we don’t know exactly when the series will be aired, we do know it’ll be on BBC One next year. So, there’s not too long to wait!
