Fearne Cotton revealed on her official website she will be leaving BBC Radio 1 and is expecting her second child. Fearne said on her departure, “I have had the most incredible decade broadcasting on Radio 1, meeting wonderful people, helping break artists and watching live music from the world’s best.”
The 33 year old DJ is married to Jesse Wood, the son of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, and the couple already have a son, Rex. Fearne will be replaced by Clara Amfo, who currently resides at 1Xtra and presents the Official Chart Show on Sundays, on the mid – morning show after presenting her last show on Friday 22nd May.
Ben Cooper, Head of Radio 1 said, “All of us at Radio 1 are delighted for [Fearne and Jesse] and wish them all the best for the future. It’s fantastic news. Clara is going to be brilliant on that show. Her warmth, her enthusiasm, her friendliness on air. She’s really slick as presenter.”
