Retina Deficiency

Research by opticians has found that people are so addicted to their smartphones that they are now at risk of damaging their eyesight.

A survey by a group of independent opticians has found that nearly half of adults feel anxiety when away from their prized phone, and 43% of under-25s experience worry when unable to check their phone at will.

Alana Chimery, 18, from Essex is never without her smart-phone, and feels that the time she spends staring at a screen has definitely contributed to the declination of her eyesight. She said: “I’ve definitely been getting more headaches.”

Opticians have also found that over-exposure to blue-violet light (the main output of smart-phones) can be toxic to the retina, and can adversely alter mood and sleep patterns.
