Hard to believe this album is over ten years old, isn’t it? And yet we are still dangerously in love with Beyoncé.

The album is most recognized for the song ‘Crazy in Love’, Beyoncé’s first hit with her now-husband Jay-Z. The album had underlying tones of ‘something she wasn’t quite telling us’, which was later revealed to be about her relationship with the rap star. Critics praised Knowles for her ‘artistic leap’ and she earned five Grammy Awards, including Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, and Best Female R’n’B Vocal Artist. The album also featured a song which had been previously done by her pop group: ‘Dangerously in Love 2’ had been recorded for the band’s 3rd studio album.

The album earned multi-platinum certifications in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States, showcasing her as a viable – and marketable – solo artist. Along with this, she was also said to be the most successful member of the once widely known Destiny’s Child, who disbanded two years after the album’s release. Since this, Beyoncé has frequently won awards for her talent and innovation within the music industry. Her fifth album, which was self titled ‘Beyoncé’, was also her 5th album to top the 100 Billboard charts; she remains the only female artist to ever have done this.

So yes, she is still Queen Bey.

No questions.
