Review: Alton Towers Theme Park

After many visits to Alton Towers, I can safely say that I have a fairly good concept of the UK’s number one theme park.
Alton Towers is centred around a centuries-old castle which belonged to the old Duke of Alton, who had a supernatural encounter with a witch. The story goes that the witch cursed his family, along with the oldest tree in Alton.
Alton Towers has made it possible to experience this story in the haunted hallows of the Duke’s home – now known as HEX. There are whispers of ghosts wandering along the corridors of the castle and the grounds below. Are you brave enough to find out if the rumours are true?
In terms of rides, The Smiler at Alton Towers is my personal favourite. If you like the feeling of adrenaline running through your body, sit at the front of this roller coaster. The fourteen loops are a head-spinning spectacular that will send you into a dizzy daze.
If big rides give you big chills, the park has a variety of other attractions for all ages and all adventure levels. From the peaks of Oblivion to the wild water rapids, there is something for everyone at Alton Towers. And if you want to make a day out of it, there are many restaurants and cafeterias in the park itself. Alternatively, to save money, you can pack a picnic and tuck in by the lake overlooking the castle.
