Review: Britain’s Biggest Sexists?

4 November 2015

There’s plenty of sexism in British life – whether that be in the workplace, in business or even in films. But it has rarely been so scathingly or so entertainingly displayed as it was in BBC Three’s Britain’s Biggest Sexists?, broadcast yesterday on Tuesday, the third of November. In it, Leah Green consulted with the public and with a panel of judges to attempt to find the holder of the eponymous title, investigating different industries, football clubs and individuals.

All in all, it was a very entertaining romp through Britain and other parts of the world, but with some profound truths, too: cartoon clips mixed with interesting facts (like the surprising truth that there are more company heads called John in Britain than there are females with any name), along with some very funny clips of Richard Branson picking up women. But the real entertainment here comes from the way in which the panel of judges (most notably Scottish comedian Fern Brady) tear apart the fundamental ideas which fuel sexism. Very, very interesting, and funny to boot.
