‘The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo’ is written by Taylor Jenkins Reid and is easily considered to be one of the best ‘booktok’ books. It is filled with plot twists and some unexpected moments. It is filled with characters who are made to be hateable and
characters who are made to be likeable. It is filled with an amazing representation of people from all backgrounds and tackles just how the public can affect people’s lives.

‘The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo’ is told from two perspectives, the first is told by Monique Grant – a reporter who just recently went through a divorce – and the second is told by Evelyn Hugo – a glamorous, old Hollywood star who reveals her secrets in a book written by Monique-. It does switch different perspectives throughout the book but it is mainly told in
Evelyn’s point of view.

The storyline will leave your jaw on the floor. This book is a book where no one would guess the ending but Reid does it in a way which isn’t too random, it’s just genius enough that not even the smartest person could connect the dots. Although it is a love story, there are emotional bits that don’t centre around love. The way Reid writes it is a unique style, with articles relating to Evelyn and different sections for the husband that she is married to.

Many Swifties think the song that best describes this book is ‘The Lucky One (Taylor’s Version)’ from Red (Taylor’s Version). As well as that, they find many subtle Taylor Swift references and believe that Hugo and Swift are very similar.

This book is so well written that I would recommend reading it at least once in your life.
