Far Cry 5 has officially, finally, popped up on the Steam library for preorder. Why you would want to do that, we have no idea, but in case you want to gamble your money:

For £45 you get your standard, shoot all the racists and bears simulator.

For £55 you get:

For £75 you get:

Tried and tested stuff, really. You get more for your money when you pay more. There have been very few details on what the season pass will offer, other than ‘story content, gear, and outfits’. The preorder bonus for all versions of the game will be the Doomsday Prepper Pack, with a “prepper outfit, gun, vehicle skins plus additional consumables”.

The game will revolve around a cult, in Montana, because where else. This cult is led by Joseph Seed, who sees himself as the father of this group of crazy people with guns. It is said to reflect the racial and religious stigma that formed after the 9/11 attacks and the tension around the Cold War. This, in recent history, is when the US has been at its most vulnerable, and to make the game’s antagonist the antithesis of that could be very interesting indeed.

Or it could turn out to be a quick cash grab method. Using political ties to sell copies. I’d like to say it hasn’t been done before. But it has, unfortunately. Homefront felt like that.

Let’s not have another Homefront please.

Hopefully we’ll get something good. Far Cry has always been a staple shooter, and there is little doubt that this will be enjoyable as heck. A new map to explore, new guns, new story.

Just so long as we don’t have to climb radio towers.

It could be the game we’re looking for in the current climate. Something meaty, and telling of the dangers of extremism, no matter where it comes from.

We shall see, but for now:

dis may be good-2
