On Saturday two blokes who are paid far too much are going kick the heck out of each other for a few minutes until someone loses for a belt that could pay for a hospital. No seriously, the ‘Money’ belt, as it has been named, contains 3,360 diamonds, 600 sapphires, 300 emeralds, 1.5 kilograms of gold and alligator leather.

To fans, this fight is a big deal, however, given the amount of hype behind it and the money being put into it. For goodness sake, Demi Lovato is going to be singing the national anthem there. We aren’t sure which anthem because one of the fighters is Irish. Unless they do them both.

*MAYBE SOME LANGUAGE*

There have been hundreds of articles about these two, citing odds, previous wins, strategies, and even whether McGregor is safe to fight Mayweather. It makes sense considering Mayweather is 49-0, meaning he’s won 49 fights. He hasn’t lost once and even came out of retirement to round that number up to a solid 50.

While McGregor has a pretty impressive resume when it comes to mixed martial arts, boxing isn’t exactly something he’s specialised in. Mayweather is considered one of the best boxers of this generation. Safe to Say McGregor’s chances aren’t looking incredibly good are they.

Each fighter will still make an incredible amount of money from the match, however. Mayweather is predicted to make upward of $230 million, with McGregor expected to make $70 million. Depending on who wins, they could make a load more than that.

Finally, let’s look at how the actual fight has been presented. It’s been this two-month tirade of hype, insults and heated discussion. The question of ‘who will win?’ has been on everyone’s mind, even if you don’t care that much. Heck, I’m curious to see who wins. But that’s the point. You get sucked in by these two personalities who, really, you probably wouldn’t want to sit next to in a pub, for fear of them starting something.

What kind of guy gets his own name tattooed on him? For real though.

Everyone falls victim to hype, unfortunately. We just feel sorry for the poor suckers who have flown out to Vegas to watch as McGregor gets lamped in the first round then it’s over.

That’s right, #MayweatherFTW.
