Long gone are the days of downloading music onto your iPod or Walkman. Music apps like Apple Music and Spotify are growing more and more popular each day, mainly because most devices are no longer compatible with anything else except them. Everyone seems to have the free version of Spotify but not everybody has the full version. Spotify Premium will set you back  £5 a month with Unidays or NUS or £10 a month without, unless you have a shared account in which case it can cost a lot less. Which type of music listener you are determines whether you will enjoy Spotify Premium or not. If you only listen to music at home on YouTube then you probably won’t use most of the features of Premium. There would be no need to download offline music and the adverts would be a little more bearable. If you listen to music in the car or when you’re commuting, being able to play your playlists offline and without interruption would make Premium worth the money.

Similarly, if you like to bring speakers out to the park or beach and play your music offline and out loud, Premium Spotify allows you to download entire playlists to listen to offline so you won’t be using all of your data. Basically, unless you listen to music outside of your home, it’s not worth £10 per month.

However, you can get pretty much every song ever made on Spotify, including new releases, so if you buy at least ten songs per month on iTunes or Amazon, Spotify will save you money.

Even the free version of Spotify is great. It’s such a simple way to organise all of your music into playlists and the best part is that you can access other people’s playlists and add them to your account which saves the hassle of creating your own. If your account is linked to your Facebook, you can find other friends on Spotify and access their playlists too.

It’s worth everyone’s while having free Spotify but Premium is an even better product, depending on your music needs.
