A new mental health support line has launched for people working in the music industry. The phone line was created by Help Musicians UK and will offer advice not only for musicians but for those in management, tour crews and record labels. This is part of the Music Minds Matter campaign, which launched after Chester Bennington, Linkin Park’s frontman, took his life in July.

The 24-hour helpline is being launched after the MMM’s health and welfare team saw a 22% rise in requests for help from people in the music industry. This identified as a ‘mental health crisis’ in the industry and promised a support line in a report published earlier in the year.

Mental health is something that everyone needs help with from time to time. Things like anxiety and depression can creep up on you without you realising, so it’s good that more help is being provided to those who need it. The music industry is a volatile place as we have seen with the likes of Kesha.

The number to call, free of charge, 24 hours a day, seven days a week is – 0808 802 8008

Until next time.
