The Aftermath

Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas city of Houston this weekend, causing floods, six deaths and 50,000 people having to leave the southern parts of the city where the Brazos River was set to burst. There have been multiple photos taken of the devastation this storm has wrought and they are harrowing, to say the least.

One such image was that of one of the main highways, that is now completely submerged under water.

More than 3,000 national guard troops have been sent to Houston to help, but some areas are too far gone that emergency services cannot reach them.

Governor Greg Abbot told Fox News:

‘All we can do is to provide as many resources as possible to save as many lives as we can.’

The city is in total shutdown and the flooding is only expected to get worse. #

If you want to help, you can donate to the American Red Cross, Global Giving, and even something as simple as local food banks if you’re in that area. Even Airbnb is helping out by offering up free rooms for those who may have lost their homes.

We’ll update if something changes but for now, keep your thoughts with the people of Houston. And try to help in any way you can, even if it’s just giving blood or, as mentioned, donating to food banks.
