The Greatest: Footballers

Over the years there have been some incredible footballers from all over the world, all different nationalities, mesmerising us with their skills. We have come up with a list of footballers we consider the best in the world, as well as in their generation of football.

We kick the list off with possibly the greatest footballer to this day.

Pele is a retired Brazilian footballer who is the regarded the greatest player of all time. Pele is the most successful league goal scorer with an outstanding 541 league goals. In total he scored 1281 goals in 1363 games.

 

 

Ronaldinho is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Mexican club Queretaro. He is knowing for his technique, tricks, dribbling, over head kicks, no look passes and free kicks.  Ronaldinho is regarded one of the best players of his generation.

 

 

Lionel Messi is an Argentine professional footballer who plays for Spanish club, FC Barcelona. Messi also captains international side Argentina. He is Barcelona’s all time top goal scorer and the all time top goal scorer in La Liga.

 

 

Cristiano Ronaldo is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for Spanish club Real Madrid. Ronaldo also captains international side Portugal. He won UEFA Best Player in Europe award in 2010 and picked up the Ballon D’Or earlier this week for for the third time for his contribution to the sport

 

 

Ronaldo is a retired Brazilian footballer. He  won the FIFA World Player of the Year three times, making him one of only three men to have done so. Ronaldo is known as one of the best strikers of all time.

 

 

Zinedine Zidane is a former French footballer and current coach for Real Madrdi Castilla. He is known for his elegance, vision and techniques, he was named the Best European footballers of the past 50 years. Zidane’s transfer free in 2001 set a world record and hit an astonishing $75million.

 

 

Diego Maradona is an Argentine former footballer. He has managed and coached numerous teams as well as national side Argentina. And while many England fans look at him as scuppering our chances of lifting a world cup, he is the only player to break the world record transfer fee twice. First he transferred to Barcelona for 5 million then Napoli for 6.9 million.

 

 

George Best was a Northern Irish footballer who played as a winger for Manchester United and Northern Ireland National team. He was the greatest player ever to wear a Northern Ireland kit and was named European Footballer of the Year. He was known for his outstanding dribbling ability, pace, skill and goal scoring.

Best was United’s top goal scorer for five consecutive seasons scoring 179 goals.

 

 

Sir Bobby Charlton is a former English footballer and, without a doubt, one of the greatest midfielders of all time. He is well known for his attacking instincts and passing ability.

in 1965 he helped Manchester United to win the football league and went on to win the World Cup in 1966.

 

 

Bobby Moore was an English professional footballer and widely regarded for being one of the greatest defenders of all time. He gained a total of 108 caps for the England team which at the time was a national record.

Moore captained the England team that won the 1966 world cup.
