To mark Queen Elizabeth II’s official 90th birthday, the weekend of 11th and 12th June was filled with action for the Royal Family.

Saturday entailed the Queen and Prince Philip watching the Trooping the Colour. The Prime Minister David Cameron was also in attendance as well as some 1,600 soldiers and 300 horses at Horse Guards Parade in the capital.

After the parade, the Queen made her way back to Buckingham Palace where she and the rest of the Royal Family stood on the balcony to watch a fly-over by the Red Arrows. Thousands of well-wishers lined The Mall where a street party was held on Sunday to close the celebrations. Of course, the media paid particular attention to the youngest royals, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Despite showers, the Queen joined 10,000 guests on The Mall for a birthday lunch to recognise her patronage of more than 600 organisations in the UK and around the Commonwealth. Security was stepped up for the huge street party, with guests, who paid £150 for a ticket, made to go through body scanners before taking their seats.

Happy birthday, Ma’am.
