The Smartest Countries in the World

As humans, we’ve accomplished a lot of great things throughout the course of history. Questions asked are now answered faster than the speed of light, and with the recent 30th Anniversary of the internet, technology has never been more advanced!

However, there are some countries who surpass the intelligence of your everyday person, and maybe they are the people who are responsible for these wonderful and technological creations which have made life so much easier for the world’s population.

At the end of January in 2018, a study was carried out to see which countries had the overall highest IQ. They found that countries in the West such as Canada, US, Norway and France placed in the teens and twenties, while the UK ranked 15. The Average IQs ranged from 97 – 100.

From Singapore to Korea

So working down from 5 to the number we spot, in the fifth spot we have Singapore, which is known as one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world – where the average IQ is 103.

Number 4 is Taiwan and it’s amongst the most highly educated countries in the world with an average IQ of 104.

Making the top three is Japan, which boasts the highest life expectancy in the world and is the leading country in scientific research and technology – the average IQ is 105.

South Korea is at number 2, as it is a country with an extremely highly-motivated, educated and skilled workforce, as well as being one of the most top-performing countries in English, Maths and Science – Korea boasts an average IQ of 106.

Finally, the smartest country in the world according to average IQ is… Hong Kong! Hong Kong maintains its own political and economic system based on an incredibly hardworking, skilled, educated and smart workforce, and with an average IQ of 107 – we can understand why.
