Girls Aloud were named the United Kingdoms biggest selling girl group of the 21st century, with over 4.3 million single sales and 4 million albums sold in the UK alone. Their biggest seller is ‘The Sound of Girls Aloud: The Greatest Hits’ with 1.2 million sold. The group’s most recent release, ‘Ten’ their second greatest hits album, has moved 156,000. The five girls shot to fame back in 2002 when they all took part in reality TV series Popstars: The Rivals. Although Cheryl, Sarah, Kimberly, Nicola and Nadine are no longer together, we have had a look back at some of their greatest music videos:

 

1) ‘Something New’

‘Something New’ is a song from Girls Aloud’s second compilation album, Ten. The song was released on 16th November 2012,. the first single from the album and official single for Children in Need.

The music video was directed by Ray Kay.

 

 

2) ‘Sound of the Underground’

‘Sound of the Underground’ is the debut single from the girl band Girls Aloud, it featured on their self-titled debut album. The single became 2003’s Christmas number one and spent four consecutive weeks in the top spot.

 

 

 

3) ‘Love Machine’

‘Love Machine’ is a song from their second studio album What Will The Neighbours Say?

 

 

4) ‘Jump’ 

In 2003 Girls Aloud covered ‘Jump’ for the soundtrack to the romantic comedy Love Actually. Their version was produced by Brian Higgins and the music video was directed by Katie Bell. ‘Jump’ peaked at number two in the UK Singles Chart.

 

5) ‘The Promise’

‘The Promise’ is a single taken from their fifth studio album Out of Control and was heavily influenced by the music of the 1960’s.
