Hello fellow wanderers!

Welcome back to my new travel column Share The World, and my very first Wanderlust Wednesday post.

There are so many amazing and magical places around the world to tell you guys about that choosing the very first destination for Wanderlust Wednesday proved an almost impossible task. After much daydreaming and deliberation I decided to kick things off in true backpacker style with the classic and beautiful Whitsunday Islands which lie just off the east coast of Australia.

With stunning white sand beaches and bright blue oceans, the Whitsundays are unbelievably beautiful – a staple location on every traveller’s bucket list. This breathtaking collection of islands are situated north of Brisbane on the East Coast. To reach them you must either fly or get the ferry – but believe me, it’s well worth the trip to walk some of the world’s most gorgeous beaches (Whitehaven beach and Airlie beach to name a few) in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef.

From world famous tropical beaches, delicious restaurants, and amazing activities like kayaking, snorkelling, diving in the Great Barrier Reef, and sailing trips from island to island, it’s easy to see why the Whitsundays steal the hearts of travellers all across the globe. If you’re planning a trip to Australia’s east coast, this is one set of islands that is not to be missed and a truly iconic destination for the first ever Wanderlust Wednesday!

That’s all for now. Keep wanderlusting and #ShareTheWorld.

Nikki
