In case you didn’t know, Barcelona player Lionel Messi has been imprisoned for 21 months, for tax evasion.
Bit of context for you.
Social media, in the last few years, has been used to great affect. From promoting important movements like #BlackLivesMatter, to spreading silly memes or funny stories, some of which even feature on this site.
However.
There comes a time when someone or some group uses this negatively, or in the wake of something negative.
And so we come circling back to this tax evading b**phole.
Yes, that is the official Barcelona FC Twitter account. Yes, they’re condoning tax evasion.
What a bunch of words I can’t say.
So obviously, this has taken off rather horribly on Twitter, with a clear divide between those who support Messi (the morons), and the people who have some sense.
Like this guy:

But unfortunately there are actually people who support his farce.

But to be fair, we’ve all been there:

But all joking aside, this is another case of a footballer thinking they’re above the law. And above social expectations. Many celebrities have tried to evade taxes, from Gary Barlow to Wesley Snipes.
And every single one of them has been caught so far.
You’d think they’d learn?
