Why We’re Dressing Like Our Grandmas

This autumn, UK teenagers are flaunting a new style: ‘Granny Chic’.

‘Granny chic’ is as the name suggests; you dress in clothes similar to what you’d see your granny in, but add a youthful touch. For example: long burgundy, floral cardigans and plain grey T-shirts, but with ripped black jeans and converse trainers. The style is warm and comfortable, making it practical for the autumn weather but trendy and full of bold seasonal colours.

The main features are:

  • Comfortable shoes are the first priority
  • Oversized bags
  • Floral print- the closer to your gran’s wallpaper, the better
  • Turtle necks under colourful dresses
  • Too big coats
  • Lacy shirts
  • If it is made of wool, wear it
