#YEAR12PROBLEMS

14 November 2016

By Lauren E. White

Oh, the irony.

This weekend, a photo of Nigel Farage and Donald Trump standing in a golden lift (yes, that’s true) surfaced on the Internet.

Isn’t it ironic?

Both men claim to be against the establishment. They hate the Washington and Westminster elite, remember? How many speeches have Farage and Trump made criticising the politicians in power? Too many.

They have divided the two countries they claim to love and, as a result, they have harnessed the worst in people.

I don’t disagree that the working-class are disenfranchised. They are. And the only alternatives are men with money and bad motives. Until someone real and true offers a different political style, this is what we’re going to get.

So when they stood in a golden lift, laughing and smiling after their absolutely crazy victories in the form of Brexit and winning the White House, it really makes you realise how scheming and manipulative they really are.

To be fair though, I don’t think we should be surprised. How anti-establishment can a former investment banker and a billionaire really be?
