So as everyone in the known universe is already aware, Adele, multi-platinum artist, releases her newest album ’25’ tomorrow. We’re already sick of listening to ‘Hello’, and we got thinking – how many of Adele’s songs are we now sick of due to overplaying? So without further ado! (With appropriate gifs.)

5. Chasing Pavements – Probably the least played of her songs on this list, but it was still everywhere when her first album was released. Her debut album ’19’ featured a lot of songs with similar themes, and this is the pinnacle of that. And it’s annoying because the lyrics (unless you know them) all kind of blend until you’re mumbling into the chorus, then blurt out ‘OR SHOULD I JUST KEEP CHASING PAVEMENTS?’ and then go right back to mumbling. But out of this list, it’s probably the most ‘easy listening’.

4. Make You Feel My Love – Originally written by Bob Dylan in 1997, then covered by dear Adele in 2008 on her debut album ’19’. Oddly, Adele told Manchester Evening News in January 2009 that it was her favourite song on the album. She described it as “about regretting not being with someone, and it’s beautiful… weird that my favourite song on my album is a cover but I couldn’t not put it on there”. With 90m+ views on YouTube, we’re slowly getting into the realms of the overplayed.

3. Skyfall – Back in 2012, Adele was to be the voice of the new Bond feature with her single, Skyfall. And while it was a decent song, IT NEVER ENDS. The song was meant to reflect a ‘soulful, haunting, evocative quality’ much like the Shirley Bassey songs back in the day. Adele revealed in 2013 that the original version of the song had been written in 10 minutes, and when they had a demo of the track, they sent it off to producer Barbara Broccoli, and Bond himself Daniel Craig. Both of whom ‘shed a tear’. And so did we when we heard it for the 18th time in 24 hours when it was released.

2. Someone Like You – Released in 2011, her album ’21’ was a massive hit. Again, another album detailing an awful relationship, Someone Like You was the song that EVERYONE was singing when they felt awful. When that person on public transport doesn’t return your gaze, and walks off, never to be seen again; when you call your pet over and they walk the other way, this song fits all scenarios. Adele said that she “wanted to make it as personal as possible”. And she certainly did it very well.

1. Rolling in the Deep – Which other song could be here? The anthem to dealing with your problems like a boss. Rolling with the punches, and keeping your chin up. This track (along with Someone Like You) was pretty much everyone’s song for 2011. The phrase ‘You go honey boo’ seems appropriate to this song. Adele said quite rightly that her most successful hit on the album  was a case of saying, ‘”Get the b**p out of my house”, instead of […] begging him to come back.’

“It’s my reaction to being told my life was going be boring and lonely and rubbish, and that I was a weak person if I didn’t stay in a relationship,” she said. “I wrote it as a sort of b**p you.” She certainly got the point across.

And there we have it! As we all eagerly await her new album tomorrow, we’re all sure to be singing at least 3 of her songs on repeat… for the next 3 years, until she releases another album.
