BATTLE UNTIL THE END

As the curtains close on the Premier League season there will be some teams who will no longer be with us in the Premier League and some teams battling to prove they should be in the league next season.

Hull City is one of the teams that didn’t quite do enough to keep their spot in the top league and could only manage to come out of the match against Manchester United with a goalless draw, which is no surprise considering they have failed to score in 17 games out of a total of 38.

Despite all the facts and figures proving that Hull shouldn’t have a spot in the Premier League they were the better side on the day. The team played with character and courage, they created a few decent chances in the first few minutes and two goals were disallowed for being offside.

At the start of the season Hull were expected to be one of the few sides that moved forward in the league through numerous singing’s but whilst other teams were moving forward and developing as a side they found themselves standing still.

‘The Tigers’ needed to secure a win against United and for Newcastle to suffer a defeat but the tables soon turned when Newcastle found themselves 2-0 up at home against West Ham and Hull couldn’t find the back of the net.

Newcastle United survived the Premier league with a 2-0 win over West Ham at an emotional St James’ Park. If anything it was more a relief to the fans and to Mike Ashley than anything else but if the man knew how to put his hand in his pocket and deliver a promising, up to standard team then their would be no doubt about Newcastle competing amongst talented sides.

The two goals came from two magic moments thanks to Jonas Gutierrez who proved more than enough on the weekend’s game. Despite only joining the side again in March after suffering and recovering from testicular cancer he soon put his stamp on the game and proved his point to seal a fairy tale ending to Newcastle’s horror story.

Gutierrez not only secured the three points and rounded the game off with a strike of his own he also assisted the opening goal that turned the atmosphere in St James’ park electric. He crossed the ball into Moussa Sissoko who headed home to give Newcastle the boost they needed to go on and secure all three points. Gutierrez’s strike will certainly be remembered in years to come.

Although Newcastle had a terrible season and found themselves battling relegation the fans sure know one thing… we still managed to finish higher in the table than the ‘Mackems.’
