The Brits Critics’ Choice category was introduced in 2008 and is one of many awards predicting who will be big in the coming year.

Years and Years, George The Poet and James Bay have been short listed for the award this year.

Over the years huge pop stars have been nominated and won the Brits Critic Choice award. Adele, Sam Smith and Jessie J are just some of the performers who have won in the past, and look at the success they have had.

Adele has gone on to sell over 11 million albums, since winning, thus proving that winning this award could be the start to an extraordinary future for these young artist.

 

George Mpanga more commonly known as his stage name George The Poet is one ofthe three performers that has been short listed for the ‘Critics Choice Award.’

The 23 year old has half a million hits on his Youtube videos and some of his pems have up to 35,000 hits.

 

George recently wowed crowds on the spoken word circuit and is the first spoken word artist to be nominated for this award.

 

 

James Bay is a singer – song writer and guitarist from Hitchin, Hertfordshire.

The 24 year old has released three EP’s The Dark Morning, Let It Go and Hold Back The River. His single ‘Let It Go’ debuted 10th in the top 10 iTunes album chart and 62nd in the UK Charts on the 27th September 2014.

He has also supported Hozier, Tom Odell and John Newman on tour.

 

Years and Years are a trio from London who formed in 2010.

The group consists of keyboardist Olly Alexandra, bassist Mikey Goldsworthy and snyth player Emre Turkmen.

 

 

The trio release their debut album next year and have spent 2014 on tour supporting the likes of Clean Bandit and Sam Smith.

 

The winner of the Brit Critics Choice Award will be announced on Thursday 4th December.
