Hangover-free Alcohol – Yes, we said it

The idea of hangover-free alcohol probably sounds heavenly to many of you, especially if you’re a student who has experienced buying the cheapest drink you can find and waking up with a stotting headache the following day. Well, you’re in luck – according to David Nutt, his new invention could replace all normal alcohol by 2050. So, just a few years to wait then…
Known as ‘alcosynth’, the drink is a new type of synthetic alcohol which mimics the positive effects that you normally get when you drink, without the downsides, such as headaches or a dry throat.
After creating around 90 patented types of alcosynth, two are now being tested for widespread use.
Commenting on the drink, he said:
“It will be there alongside the scotch and the gin; they’ll dispense the alcosynth into your cocktail and then you’ll have the pleasure without damaging your liver and your heart. They go very nicely into mojitos. They even go into something as clear as a Tom Collins. One is pretty tasteless, the other has a bitter taste.”
Having studied the brain, he goes on to say:
“We know where the good effects of alcohol are mediated in the brain, and can mimic them. And by not touching the bad areas, we don’t have the bad effects.”
