The summer holidays are coming up which means there’s endless amounts of time to write and maybe even crack on with that novel or blog you’ve been putting off. To give you some inspiration or ideas, here are 20 uncategorised writing prompts for you to use in anyway you want.

1- You dream about a very distinctive man. The next day, you see him in the street and he starts to approach you.

2- Who was the last person who made you angry? Blog about them and this experience.

3- Write your own take on Freaky Friday.

4- Write the worst poem you can.

5- Make a blog post about someone that makes you feel jealous.

6- Post a playlist that has a rainy day theme.

7- Blog about your least favourite teacher from when you were at school (this only works if you’ve left school).

8- Imagine you are meeting your Year 7 self. What do you say to him/her?

9- Write yourself as one of the characters in one of your games.

10- “For some extra money, we”re getting a roommate. One thing you should know: they’re a criminal on the run from the American police.”

11- Flip through the dictionary and stop at a word. Use this word to inspire you.

12- Write about a time you dreaded doing something and it was worse/better than you expected.

13- Write about an imaginary game you’d play as a child.

14- Have you ever been really excited about something but no one else was? Blog about it.

15- Post a list of overrated songs.

16- What was the worst lie someone ever made up about you?

17- Have you ever spread gossip that got out of hand?

18- Write about something you know you’ll never understand.

19- Post a photo that means a lot to you and explain why it’s so special.

20- Make a list of the worst qualities a person can have.
