Dec ties the knot

Declan Donnelly returned to his hometown to tie the knot with his partner and manager Ali Astall. The big day took place at St Michael’s Church at Elswick, Newcastle on Saturday. Dec started dating 36 year old Ali in 2012 and popped the question last November.

Best man Ant McPartlin was really emotional at his TV sidekicks wedding, after the ceremony he said, “She (Ali) looked amazing. It was very emotional, I was really emotional. He finally got married.”

Many celebrity friends attended the ceremony in Newcastle but one star who was expected to attending the wedding and sadly gave it a miss, Simon Cowell, said,  “I don’t know if I can go but I’ve been invited. I’m very happy for  him.”

The ceremony was officiated by the Dec’s older brother Dermott Donnelly.

Other stars spotted entering the church before the ceremony included Phillip Schofield, Leigh Francis, Alan Shearer, Vernon Kay, Tess Daly, Marvin and Rochelle Humes, Ashley Roberts, Paddy McGuinnes and Ben Shepard.
