Disney Under Fire for White Washing

Again.

Disney is being called out once again for casting a white actor in one of the roles for the Aladdin live action remake. This is not the first time they’ve done this, given that they cast Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine in July.

Guy Ritchie has cast Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders, a totally new character. So, depending on the role of this character, it may be fitting that he’s a white guy. Maybe there’ll be a love triangle thing. I don’t know. However, in the original story, there are approximately zero white characters.

The OG story is from The Book of One Thousand Nights.

Twitter, obviously because what story like this doesn’t involve Twitter, went a bit mad:

Yeah.

Maybe they need to get it together and stop adding unnecessary characters to a story centred around Arabian characters as a safety net.

The shade that was thrown is just:

We’ll see how it works. But my guess? It’ll probably suck.
