In the UK, we know UKIP is our furthest to the right mainstream political party. In France, the Front National, with party leader Marine Le Pen, is considered to be the main right wing party. In the recent regional elections, Front National won the elections in over 50% of the French regions.

Deemed “racist” and “antisemitic”, Le Pen takes a harsh stance in terms of the refugees coming over from Syria and other places in the Middle East, especially after the recent attacks in Paris. Front National thrives upon the controversial nature of the refugee debate and they are an openly anti-Europe, anti-refugee party.

Perhaps one thing the French like about FN is their patriotic attitude. Le Pen once stated that, “to merit French nationality, you have to speak French, eat French and live French” and many proud French people may agree, even if it apparently means you can never eat a curry or a pizza again…
