Hello there and May the fourth be with you. In some rather appropriate Star Wars news, it is expected that the upcoming Solo movie is predicted to break a record, domestically in the US on opening weekend.

It opens on Memorial Day weekend and could well beat the previous record holder, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World End. The previous record holder made $139.8m in the US way back in 2007. Solo is predicted to make more than $160m over the four-day period.

Tickets for the movie will be on sale Friday morning, with estimates changing depending on how well pre-sale tickets track.

The first spin-off from the monolithic franchise was Rogue One, which made $155.1m during its opening weekend back in December 2016. This counts three days instead of Solo’s four due to the holiday. Again, all of these numbers are domestic box office only as international predictions are not available as of yet.

The movie will star Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian. Woody Harrelson (Zombieland, True Detective), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and Paul Bettany (Avengers), will all star as original characters for the movie.

Ron Howard was recently brought on board to take over from previous directors, who left due to creative disputes with the studio.
