After the recent incident in Las Vegas, Marvel and Netflix have decided to pull out of New York Comic Con, which began this week.

In a statement, via Deadline, the two companies said:

‘After careful consideration, Netflix and Marvel have decided it wouldn’t be appropriate for Marvel’s The Punisher to participate in New York Comic-Con.’

It makes sense on their part, as the show is about a gun-toting main character, hellbent on killing as many people as possible. The release date has still not been set for the 13-part series, but it’s uncertain if it will be pushed back because of this. NYCC has a reputation for getting tasters from Netflix, as last year, the first episode of Marvel’s Jessica Jones was shown to a private audience.

The panel for the show was to include John Bernthal, the lead in the show and Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb.

New York Comic Con runs from 5th October-8th October, at the Javits Center in downtown New York.
