If you share a kitchen with your flatmates, cooking together can be a really great experience that helps you to bond with each other. Though, it can also cause a few arguments too… but we’ll not go into that! So, finding some easy, low-budget meals to prepare as a group is really helpful, and we’re here to do exactly that.

  • Macaroni Cheese – This is an easy recipe that will definitely fill everyone up, and is likely to fulfil everyone’s dietary needs. If you split the cost between everyone, it’ll probably be less than £1 each.
  • Cottage Pie – Home comforts are important while you’re at uni, and this is one of the best. This is admittedly a slightly more difficult dish to perfect, but if you all work together it’ll be done within no time.
  • Bangers and Mash – This is another family favourite, and it’s delicious. There isn’t much you can do to mess this one up, as all you need are a few ingredients. If you want, you can make your own gravy, but it’ll be just as tasty without this step.
  • Fast-Fix Fried Rice – Students are generally depicted as being a little bit lazy when it comes to cooking, so if you’re happy to fulfil that stereotype then this is a great recipe. All you need is some leftovers and some rice, and it’ll be ready in no time!
  • Turkey Burgers with Sweet Potato Chips – This one might sound difficult but believe us, it’s not. These are very tasty, and there are even some vegetables in there, too, that’ll make you feel as though you’re being that little bit healthy!

Hopefully that will help you to survive as a student for a little while, and improve your cooking skills. You can learn a lot from cooking with other people, and it’s a great opportunity to spend some time together in between studies. Enjoy!
