It’s that time of year again, when Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Is it that much of a big occasion? Should I be buying a card? What’s his favourite kind of chocolate? Do I really need to be spending this much money? Those are probably just a few of the thoughts going around in your head as you plan for the special day, but you might be struggling to decide how to actually spend it.

Well, whether it’s something you believe is a really important part of a relationship, or just another day in the year to express your love, there’s plenty you can be getting up to.

Take a trip to the cinema – There are plenty of romantic films hitting the cinemas over the next week or so, so what better way to get in the Valentine’s spirit? Whether you want to get down and dirty with 50 Shades Darker, or incredibly soppy with Loving, there’s something for everyone.

Spend it indoors bingeing on your favourite TV shows – If you don’t fancy going out, there are plenty of great shows to watch this month. If you’re looking for something romantic, try Him & Her (one of our favourites at the moment), or alternatively check out a new Netflix original: Lemony Snicket’s ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’.

Reminisce about your first date – If you’ve been together for a while, it can be really nice to reminisce about the early days of your relationship, and go back to where it all began. This is a great way to remind yourselves just how special your relationship is, and make some new memories along the way.

Take a trip away – Spending the night away together is a great chance to make things that little bit more exciting. Try somewhere you’ve never visited before, and make the most of the experience. Plus, sometimes it’s nice to just get away from reality for a little bit.

Cook your own dinner – Cooking together might be something you do every day, or a once in a life time experience. However, it can be a great way to bond. Try taking a course each, and cooking something you know your partner will love. You’ll have fun while doing it, and even more while eating it!

Or, if you’re spending Valentine’s Day alone this year, check out our guide to surviving the day. It’s not that bad, we promise.
